Volem rien foutre al païs

This project was announced years ago and it's always a pleasure to hear that people are willing to take the time to let the dailies infuse and ideas percolate into a well-thought project to give us an intelligent documentary.Well the result is amateurish and really not worth the wait. A few ideas are scintillating here and there, waiting for someone to catch them and the whole documentary to forward a debate about Alternate Ways of Life possible far away from Consumer Society and the stress of insatiable capitalism. Instead 'Volem rien foutre al païs' edits together points of view that are mainly drafts for structured thoughts. Most dialogue here sounds inarticulate, tentative or purely provocative. In the end it looks as if the movie makers realized only too late they had very little usable material. Yet they dare bring together almost 2 hours of incoherent archive footage and interviews of people living in would-be autarcy. But nothing adds up, accumulating is not directing and the whole stuff has no meaning.I really think any structured economic and political debate about alter-globalization would be more interesting than this cheap mess.
