Glenn Morris makes Tom a splendid offer as financial manager, but he feels honor-bound to remain loyal to Carlos, so vicariously ambitious Lynette uses her bedroom charms and, that failing, the lure of a red Porsche. Unemployed Andrew is falling into alcoholism, which wrecks his guy relationship. Bree recognizes the drama and tries everything to get her unwilling, equally resourceful son into an AA program. Complex emotions, not just Paul's bitterness, complicate Beth's dying wish that her kidney should save Susan's life, but the neighborhood party goes on and humanitarian prison leave is granted.
