01E18 - The Waterbending Master

Aang, Katara, and Sokka arrive at the Northern Water Tribe. Aang and Katara meet expert water bending master, Pakku, he agrees to teach Avatar Aang water bending, but he refuses to teach Katara. Pakku only trains male water benders to fight and Yagoda trains female water benders on healing, which frustrates Katara. Sokka meets Princess Yue and he falls in love with her. Aang realizes that Katara still wants to learn how to water bend, he decides to train her privately, it does not sit well for Pakku. Katara becomes frustrated over Pakku's stubborn attitude, she challenges the water bending master to a fierce duel, with the duel evenly matched. Pakku recognizes Katara's necklace, he reveals he made the necklace for Kanna many years ago. Pakku realizes he drove away the love of his life because he was only trying to follow water tribe traditions, he finally agrees to train Katara to become a water bender. Meanwhile, Zhao and his fleet prepare to attack the Northern Water Tribe.
